A mid-cycle check-in takes place approximately five years after the issuance of the APR outcome letter. While this documents progress toward addressing issues identified during the most recent review, it demonstrates to the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) that the campus has instituted a continual cycle of assessment and improvement for the university’s degree programs.
It is also an opportunity for School Deans and Department Chairs to provide a brief communication to the Program Review Oversight Committee (PROC) and campus leadership regarding their APR-related activities, including new challenges and/or opportunities that the school faces.
Units are requested to address the following in the mid-cycle check-in report:
APR FOLLOW-UP ACTIVITIES
- Briefly describe the current status of those recommendations that have been successfully completed.
- Briefly describe plans for completing any outstanding recommendations and indicate if you need any support in this regard.
NEW CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
- Are there any new challenges or opportunities that have arisen since the previous outcome letter? If so, what steps are you taking to address them?
REQUEST TO CENTRAL LEADERSHIP
- Are there ways in which campus leadership might further support your unit’s APR-related activities? If so, please describe specific requests in support of your goals.
Please feel welcome to contact us at program-reviews@berkeley.edu regarding assistance with the above questions and identifying campus staff and resources available to help with planning and implementation. As needed, and based on the information provided, the Vice Provost for Academic Planning will work with the unit head and campus leadership in supporting the unit’s goals.
